Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry
Christ caring for people through people.

Stephen Ministry is a one-to-one lay caring ministry. Stephen Ministers are trained congregation members who offer high-quality, confidential, one-to-one Christian care to people who are hurting or going through tough-times.  Stephen Ministers are available to those who are struggling through a difficult time in life, such as people experiencing grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, or some other life crisis.  You don't have to be a member of Bunker Hill United Methodist Church to receive Stephen Ministry care.  If you are in need of Christian care, please contact our church office.
The relationship between a care receiver and a Stephen Minister is confidential. Men are matched with men; women with women. When a care receiver’s needs exceed what a Stephen Minister can provide, the Stephen Ministry team makes a referral to appropriate  professionals or other community resource.

Who Are Stephen Ministers?
Stephen Ministers are laypeople—Christian men and women—trained to provide one-to-one care to people experiencing a difficult time in life. Stephen Ministers come from all walks of life. Their commonality? A passion for bringing Christ’s love and care to people during a time of need.

Caring for You through Christ.
This confidential, Christian caregiving is a vital part of the total healing ministry of Christ’s body, the church. Stephen Ministers are trained to aid their care receivers to deal more effectively with their own situations. These are some of the issues for which people may receive help from a Stephen Minister:
  • Struggling with faith in God
  • Loneliness or discouragement
  • Separation or divorce
  • Death or terminal illness of a loved one
  • Loss of a job
  • Hospitalization
  • New to our Community
  • Life transitions
  • Pregnancy/adoption
  • Aging and elderly
  • Other concerns

If you are in need of Christian care, contact the church office by calling (336) 993-8132.
